Educational Advocacy and Representation
One of the main pillars of the Umeå Medical Students’ Association is educational advocacy and monitoring. This includes, among other things, student representation in various councils and committees at all levels of the university — ranging from the Umeå University Board, which is the university’s highest decision-making body, to programme councils. The Student Union Board forms the foundation of student representation at the faculty and university-wide level, as well as in collaborative bodies with the region. The study councils form the basis for representation at the programme level.
Student representation is extremely important in ensuring that students’ voices are heard in all matters and decisions that affect students. It is through our voices that we can make a difference and improve our education.
