Making student life more fun!
We want your time as a student to be as fun and exciting as possible. We have three study-social committees that organize parties, competitions, sports activities, and many other fun events. We also support members who want to create their own social events by offering the possibility to apply for funding for such activities.
Don’t miss our profile products and discounts either: IKSU – Umeå’s largest sports and training facility, annual passes for the Nydala artificial snow ski track, coffee at Kahls, Hedvig’s popular home insurance, cinema tickets at Filmstaden, and many other discounts through Mecenat.

Social activities for students
The Umeå Medical Student Union has three student social committees that do their best to make your time as a student even more enjoyable.
Äskningar - Apply for funding
Submitting a funding request means applying for financial support from the Umeå Medical Students’ Association (UMS) to partially cover the costs of an event that benefits the union’s members. All members of UMS can apply for funding.
What can you apply for funding for?
You can apply for funding for different types of events where students from different semesters participate. For the introduction period (mottagningen), you can apply for funding if you are part of the programmes offered by UMS and the university.
Read the student union’s policy for student social funding applications.

Dress Codes
Formal dinners and balls are wonderful student traditions that we warmly encourage you to take part in. These events usually have a dress code, so we have gathered information below about the different dress codes you may encounter.
During the dinner there will be a festive atmosphere and great food, but in academic settings there are also certain traditions and rules to follow—everything to help create that unique student life experience.
While you may want to impress with your outfit, you probably don’t want to stand out because you misunderstood the dress code. So read the information below to give yourself the best chance of having a fantastic evening while being perfectly dressed for the occasion.
The dress codes are listed below from least formal to most formal.
