Students in Research Umeå (SiF) is a research-promoting association within Umeå Medical Student Union (UMS) that aims to create a community for students in Umeå who are interested in medical research. We also hope to inspire more students to try research and help guide them along the way.

SiF is run by a board, but we also organize open meetings where we gather feedback from everyone attending. Anyone who participates in their second open meeting becomes an active member and has the opportunity to vote on matters when relevant.

The board consists of 12 members, including one PhD representative and one deputy PhD representative. SiF is primarily aimed at undergraduate students from all programs at the Faculty of Medicine, but students from other faculties who are interested in medical research are also welcome.

During the autumn semester of 2024, SiF created a list of researchers who are interested in supervising students. The researchers have filled out a form including information about their research, how students may contribute, and whether students may be eligible for scholarships or other types of support.

This can be a great place to start if you are looking for a research supervisor.
