Villan
Villan, the student union building, is run entirely by students. If you are interested in getting involved in student life and meeting people from other programmes, Villan is the place to go. Those of us who work at Villan are:
Kårhuschefer
The Kårhuschefer (KHC) are the head managers and main pillars of Villan. The role of KHC involves being responsible for Villan’s operations, including purchases, bookings, evening managers, the venue, events, and more. The work is divided between a financial manager and a purchasing manager (barmaster). This is a paid position.
Kvällschefer
The evening managers (KCs) at Villan are easy to recognize by their red shirts and constant running around. At all of Villan’s events, staff work together with an evening manager who acts as both staff manager and the person responsible for alcohol service. The evening managers consist of around twenty students from different programmes who are especially passionate about Villan and are happy to spend their Friday evenings changing beer kegs and clearing dishes. Being an evening manager also means you get to attend KC days, skip the queue, and meet lots of students who come to work at Villan. Think it sounds fun? Apply to become an evening manager.
Tomte
Being the “Tomte” at Villan is exactly what it sounds like. Unfortunately, things sometimes break at our beloved student union building, and the Tomte’s job is to fix them. This role suits someone who enjoys repairing things, is somewhat handy, and very creative. The position is paid and a lot of fun.
PR
Villan’s PR manager is the person you reach if you message Villan on Instagram. The role involves keeping track of upcoming events and regularly updating social media with information and news. This is a paid position and suits someone who is great with social media.
Sound and lighting
Do you enjoy a really good bass? Are you the person who leaves the club because the disco lights stopped working? The sound and lighting role is perfect for someone who likes working with cables, lights, and microphones. Your task will be to set up lights and sound before performances and afterparties and to continuously maintain Villan’s technical equipment. This is a paid position.
